Aidan’s and Benildus in decider

ST AIDAN’S CBS and St Benildus College are set to face-off in the Dublin Schools Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship showpiece, following their respective semi-final victories in the past week.
Amidst torrential conditions at Pairc Bharrog last Friday, Aidan’s held off a gallant and admirable fightback by St Fintan’s HS, Sutton to progress on the slenderest of margins (2-5 to 1-7).
With a strong wind advantage at their disposal, they hit the ground running in style.
Thanks to goals from Niall Carroll and Sean Lowry, Aidan’s brought a 2-5 to 0-2 cushion into the break. They were placed under pressure on the resumption, though, as Fintan’s developed a more cohesive attacking rhythm.
Yet, courtesy of heroic displays by Eddie Moran, Eoin Flaherty and netminder Adam Moran, Aidan’s prevailed in dramatic circumstances. It was another close-run affair on Tuesday afternoon at Alfie Byrne Park, where Benildus faced 2017 finalists Ardscoil Ris.
While their opponents had impressed en route to the last-four, the southsiders secured a hard-earned 0-14 to 0-12 success.
