GAELIC GAMES: DUBLIN SCHOOLS SENIOR ‘B’ HURLING
Terenure hurlers back on track

TERENURE College got their Dublin Schools Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship campaign back on track with an emphatic 10-18 to 4-10 victory over St Colmcille’s CS last Thursday afternoon.
In light of their agonising one-point defeat to Maynooth PP in the previous week’s Roinn Two outing, ‘Nure needed a strong response to keep their knockout hopes alive. This is exactly what they managed to do, despite the best efforts of their southside counterparts on the day.
The schools met in the second-tier decider as recently as 2015, when Terenure claimed the title on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-8. Thanks to excellent displays by Jack O’Shea, Sean Fitzgerald, Daniel Ryan and Ciaran Nagle – amongst others – they established a strong foothold in the middle-third on this occasion.
Although Joe McGrath ended the proceedings in Terenure with four goals to this name, he was ably-assisted over the course of the hour. Cillian Kirwan bagged a brace of three-pointers, with Conor Gilmore also posting 1-2 in attack.
Benji Bowe’s six-point tally also kept the scoreboard ticking over, and while Colmcille’s had their moments at the opposite end of the field, they couldn’t rein in Matt Collins’ highly-motivated charges.
