Peter digs really deep

DOWN’S Peter Bothwell will face Ryan James Storrie in the AIG Irish Open Tennis Championship men’s singles final today.
Bothwell, 22, came through an energy-sapping clash with Britain’s Joshua Paris at Carrickmines to win in straight sets – 6-2 7-5.
Storrie was taken to three sets by Stefan Seifert – 6-3 6-7 6-3.
In the women’s singles, Dubliner Julie Byrne lost in straight sets – 4-6 3-6 – to Emily Appleton.
Despite Byrne building up a 4-2 lead in the opening set, an ice-cool Appleton won the next four games on the trot and never looked back.
She will share the main stage today with British team-mate Sasha Hill, who was a straight-sets winner over Alice Robbe.
