Waters proves just the tonic for Bray

St Patrick’s Athletic 0

Bray Wanderers 1

Kieran ‘Marty’ Waters was the toast of Bray after striking an 87th-minute winner in an ill-tempered clash at Richmond Park, which saw three players sent off in the second half.

Bray suffered two setbacks as Dean Zambra (30 minutes) and Adam Mitchell (42) had to be replaced following two separate clashes of heads.

Jason Byrne became the first player to be sent off when he was shown a straight red card on 65 minutes following an off-the-ball incident with Sean O’Connor. That led to a massive melee involving not only a host of players but also members of the two dug-outs, which ended with Pat’s winger Darren Meenan also being sent off.

Kenny Browne was then given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card for a late tackle on Waters.

Still, the drama wasn’t over as Waters unleashed a fine strike from a tight angle to give Bray their fifth league victory of the campaign.
