BRITISH & IRISH CUP SEMI-FINAL
St Peter’s Jersey Reds 27 (T Pincus, K Hardy, J Worrall try each, B Cope 2 pens, 3 cons) Leinster ‘A’ 29 (C Frawley try, pen, 3 cons, P Timmins, H O’Sullivan, W Connors try each)
LEINSTER ‘A’ produced a stunning fightback against Jersey Reds yesterday to secure a 29-27 triumph in the semi-final of the British & Irish Cup.
Trailing by 19 points (27-8) past the hour mark, converted tries by Ciaran Frawley, Hugh O’Sullivan and Will Connors helped Noel McNamara’s side to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Thanks to five-pointers from Tom Pincus and Kieran Hardy, Jersey had developed a 14-3 interval lead at St Peter’s.
A brace of Brendan Cope place-kicks extended their advantage after break, before a Peadar Timmins five-pointers offered the visitors hope. Jersey appeared to restore order with a Jason Worrall touchdown, but following their late onslaught, it is Leinster ‘A’ who will now face Ealing Trailfinders in the upcoming decider.
