A clinical second-half display helped Blackrock College to defeat St Gerard’s, Bray in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup quarter-final at Donnybrook yesterday.
After fly-half Saul Fitzpatrick kicked to touch in the 13th-minute, Gerard’s deservedly took the lead with unconverted try from Freddi Happonen. However, when a Scott Barron try was followed by Michael Moloney’s bonus strike, ‘Rock led 7-5 at the interval.
With momentum on their side after the break, Harry Whelan, Milo Byrnes and Ben Brownlee also crossed over for the 50-times champions. Thomas O’Connor touched down for second Gerard’s try, before Cian Moloney completed the scoring for Blackrock in stoppage-time.
