COLAISTE Eoin booked their place in the Dublin Schools Senior Hurling ‘A’ Championship final with a comfortable 4-16 to 1-5 victory against St Fintan’s HS, Sutton at Silver Park on Monday afternoon.

It has been few days for the Booterstown school, who had big football encounters at the U16 and U18 grades either side of this contest. A number of the squad featured in the Leinster Schools SF ‘A’ semi-final defeat to Naas CBS two days earlier.

But with Seamas Ó Fiachna in sparkling form throughout, they emerged on the right side of the result in this penultimate round encounter.

They will have a short turnaround for tomorrow’s top-tier decider against Colaiste Eanna in Abbotstown, when the Gaelcholaiste will be seeking the defend the crown they secured at the expense of Ardscoil Ris 12 months ago.

Liam Dunne was a key figure for Fintan’s in their ‘B’ final success last season, and along with centre-back Kevin Byrne, he led an admirable resistance for large spells of the action. However, Eoin were always a step ahead of their northside counterparts.

In addition to Ó Fiachna’s dead-ball prowess, goals by Diarmaid Ó Floinn (a county minor hurler last year) and Donncha Ó Muireadaigh opened up an 2-6 to 0-1 gap in the early stages.

This left Fintan’s with too much ground to make up in the second half, and following sizeable contributions from Ó Floinn and Ó Fiachna – who finished with a personal haul of 0-10 – Eoin eventually cruised over the line.
