Kingston reigns for Belfield boys
BALLYBODEN ST ENDA’S 2-7
By Daire Walsh
DONIE KINGSTON was in inspirational form at the Iveagh Grounds, as his 1-7 haul helped UCD to secure their place in the fourth round of the Dublin SFC following a final-quarter comeback.
The students made a flying start, as three points from Kingston, alongside scores from Conor Downey, Alan Giles and Niall Kilroy, saw them opening up a five-point lead inside 18 minutes.
Boden enjoyed a fine conclusion to the opening period, however, as a brace of points from Ryan Basquel were sandwiched in between an expertly taken Darren O’Reilly goal which meant that the sides were on level terms (0-6 to 1-3) during the interval.
A second-half goal from Declan O’Mahony, as well as points from Ian Clarke, ‘keeper Conor Dooley (’45’), Kenny Naughton and Cormac Smyth, put ‘Boden into the lead but a brilliantly converted penalty by Kingston with eight minutes remaining turned the tie.
