Adult Football League Division Three Round-Up: The Evening Herald – July 4 2017

Fins remain in pole position

ROUND-UP: DUBLIN AFL DIVISION 3

FOLLOWING their respective victories over Naomh Barrog and St Peregrine’s on Saturday evening, Naomh Fionnbarra and Round Tower Lusk have maintained the pressure on league leaders Fingallians at the summit of the AFL Division Three table.

After they received a walkover for their proposed game against Ballyboden St Enda’s, Fingallians remain in pole position in the third-tier. Fionnbarra knew that an away win against Barrog would move them to within three points of the Swords outfit, and despite playing the entire second-half with just 14 men, goals from Carl Turner and Wayne Lospy helped them to ultimately claim a 2-10 to 0-10 triumph.

Just behind them on score difference are Round Tower Lusk, who finished with six points to spare (0-16 to 1-7) on their home patch against St Peregrine’s.

Three points from Sean Mulhall propelled the Lusk men towards a 0-8 to 0-1 interval cushion, and with Cormac Howley, Liam Bohan, substitute Jack Hussey and Killian Healy all on target in the second period, Round Tower’s eased over the line.

A brace of goals from Paidi Kelly, as well as one from Damien O’Flynn were crucial at Pairc Ciceam, as St Brigid’s recorded a comprehensive 3-15 to 2-7 triumph at the expense of Ballymun Kickhams. St Sylvester’s moved out of the bottom two places with a hard-earned 0-10 to 1-7 draw with Garda/Westmanstown Gaels, while St Vincent’s and St Mark’s enjoyed successes over Parnell’s and Kilmacud Crokes.
