DUBLIN JUVENILE HURLING ‘C’ FINAL
Salesians win battle of the Lilywhites

THERE was little to separate the teams throughout the course of last Thursday’s game at Leixlip GAA, but Salesian College of Celbridge ultimately claimed the Dublin Schools Juvenile ‘C’ Hurling Championship crown with a 1-9 to 1-8 triumph over Maynooth Post-Primary.
This decider was something of a novelty, as even though it was a competition for teams in the capital, it was contested by two sides from north Kildare. Salesians entered this encounter on a back of a morale-boosting semi-final win against Colaiste Choilm on April 28th, while Maynooth staged an extraordinary fightback to overcome Skerries CC in their penultimate round clash.
Despite trailing by eight points with just five minutes remaining, David Qualter, Cormac Nolan and Eoin Kelleher claimed unanswered goals to hand Maynooth a 3-5 to 1-10 success. This ensured that they were in a confident mood ahead of a meeting with their neighbours, but despite having a number of fine performers on the day, Salesians ultimately held out to add to their Dublin Junior Football ‘C’ Championship win from earlier in the year.
