Glynn propels Belvo to safety
U-21 star Josh Glynn scored all of Old Belvedere’s points as they squeezed home in the AIL promotion/relegation play-off at Anglesea Road.
The visitors enjoyed a blistering start, with pacy out-half Stuart Olding getting in under the posts for an excellent try three minutes in. Ian Porter converted before Glynn opened his side’s account with an 11th-minute penalty.
The winger followed this up with a converted try three minutes later, giving last year’s champions the lead. However, a 29th-minute Porter penalty tied it up at 10-10 at the break.
Belvo regained the lead as Glynn split the posts on the hour mark from a 25-metre penalty.
Glynn crossed for his second try in the 67th minute, after a long kick from Danny Riordan. Adam Macklin’s late try produced a few nerves but Belvo did enough to avoid dropping down to Division 1B.
