Newbridge College booked their place in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup semi-final with an emphatic triumph over Wesley College at Donnybrook yesterday.
Newbridge enjoyed a comprehensive victory against St Mary’s College in the opening round, and they raced into an early 12-point lead thanks to tries from Sam Cahill and winger Daniel Silke Fetherston.
Wesley replied with a Tadgh O’Neill five-pointer, before a converted score by James Gaire helped the Kildare school to establish a 19-5 interval cushion.
Centre Marcus Kiely crossed over eight minutes after the restart to widen the gap to 21 points (scrum-half Cahill converted).
With their entire replacements bench seeing action before the end of the contest, Newbridge went on to comfortably advance to the penultimate round of the competition.
