Eoin sail into final to face Benildus

COLAISTE Eoin will face St Benildus College in the Dublin Juvenile Football ‘A’ Championship decider, after they comprehensively defeated Maynooth PPS in UCD yesterday afternoon.
The gaelscoil suffered a narrow reversal to Benildus in last year’s final, and even though the Kilmacud side enjoyed a convincing success over St Aidan’s CBS three weeks ago, Eoin will be confident ahead of their upcoming meeting.
With captain Rian O Maolain combining effectively with Darra O Donnchu in midfield, the Booterstown outfit made a devastating start to the action at the Belfield venue. Three goals inside the opening five minutes left Maynooth with a mountain to climb, and although the north Kildare school attempted to work their way back into contention, they simply couldn’t rein in the free-scoring Eoin attack.
Liam O Fiachna claimed two goals for the southsiders, and courtesy of further three-pointers by Luke Breathnach, Seosamh O Riain and Conor O Gairne, they brought an insurmountable 24-point advantage into the interval.
In stark contrast to the first half, Eoin added just one score after the restart – as the Maynooth defence stuck admirably to their task. However, with O Donnchu (who finished with 0-3 to his name) continuing to make an impression, they ultimately secured a 5-12 to 0-3 triumph.
