FOUR days on from reaching their second consecutive EA Sports Cup decider, St Patrick’s Athletic claimed a much-needed league victory over Galway United, courtesy of a third-minute goal from Christy Fagan.
The hosts hit the ground running at Richmond Park, as lone striker Fagan broke the deadlock with a crisp finish past Conor Winn.
Galway displayed admirable endeavour in their search for an equaliser.
However, despite going close through the in-form Vinny Flaherty and Paul Sinnott, the Saints ultimately held on for all three points.
