SHAMROCK RVS 2

GOALS in either half from Brandon Miele and Gary Shaw were the difference at Richmond Park last night, as Shamrock Rovers secured their ninth league win of the campaign away to St Patrick’s Athletic.

Christy Fagan and Sam Verdon did go close for the Saints during the early exchanges, but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock on 15 minutes. Right-back Simon Madden crossed for Miele to register.

Rovers remained in front at the break but as Pat’s increased the pressure on the restart, visiting netminder Craig Hyland produced excellent saves to deny Billy and Darren Dennehy in quick succession.

Shaw subsequently claimed his third goal in as many games after applying the finishing touches to a Patrick Cregg assist on 77 minutes and this ensured that Rovers moved level on points with Derry City in third place.
