DUBLIN South will compete in this year’s Leinster Juvenile Hurling ‘A’ League final, after they recorded a 4-16 to 0-5 triumph over Good Counsel, New Ross at the Wexford COE last Friday afternoon.
They will renew acquaintances with group stage opponents St Kieran’s College in the upcoming decider, and thanks to strong work by the midfield pairing of Colm Behan and Darrach McBride, they comprehensively dominated the penultimate round.
Following a well-taken goal by the impressive Matthew Dunne, they developed a strong cushion during the early exchanges. Indeed, courtesy of another three-pointer by the industrious Aaron O’Toole, they brought a 2-8 to 0-3 lead into the break. With Ciaran Foley and Ciaran Mooney exerting their authority in defence, Cian Waldron’s side were keeping the opposition attack on a tight leash.
Corner-forward Colm Walsh made a sizeable contribution, and with Carl Morgan and Jack Kielty raising green flags in the second-half, South created an insurmountable buffer.
Sub Adam Kelleher registered two points, and provided the South management with food for thought ahead of their provincial showpiece.
