Piece On 1916 Show By Tyrone Productions Ltd: The Evening Herald – April 5 2016

Volunteers needed for 1916 show

By Daire Walsh

TYRONE Productions Ltd have been commissioned by the GAA to produce a half-hour show as part of their 1916 commemoration event – and they are seeking the help of volunteers to make this an occasion to remember.

Taking place in Croke Park on Sunday, April 24, this special show will be televised on TG4, and will not just commemorate the 1916 and the Proclamation, but will also provide an insight into the story of Gaelic Games, and the role that the GAA has taken since the Rising 100 years ago.

One of the most essential elements of this event will be the Grand Citizens Parade, and it is hoped that as many GAA clubs as possible will be represented in this particular section of the show.

The aim is to assemble at least 1,000 volunteers (who must be 18 years or over) from across the 32 counties, with the deadline for applying to this event being next Monday (April 11).

There will be room for up to 20 members from each club, and it is hoped there will be a strong representation from all sections of the GAA – i.e. Gaelic Football, hurling, camogie and handball.

Those interested should send the following information to Moira Lawson of Tyrone Productions; mlawson@tyrone-productions.ie: Club Name, Contact Person, Number of members volunteering, Telephone Number & Email address.
