All-Ireland Schools Camogie Finals Round-Up: The Evening Herald – March 10 2016

CAMOGIE

Brave Dub sides lose out

THERE was disappointment for St Joseph’s College, Lucan and Our Lady’s, Terenure on Saturday, as both sides suffered defeats in their respective All-Ireland Schools Camogie deciders.

Joseph’s were competing in the All-Ireland Senior ‘B’ showpiece against Scoil na Trionoide, Doon, but despite opening the scoring with a brace of frees from the dependable Aoife McKearney, a hat-trick of goals from Grainne Regan helped Trionoide to develop a 4-6 to 0-2 interval cushion.

In addition to strong showings from Jessie McClelland, Orlaith Murphy and Meabh Dowler, McKearney added a third point after the restart, but the Lucan girls were ultimately defeated on a scoreline of 4-10 to 0-3.

In Mountmellick, Co Laois on the same day, Our Lady’s produced a gutsy display in their 3-6 to 3-2 reversal in the All-Ireland Junior ‘B’ competiton against Colaiste Choilm, Ballincollig.

In spite of a well-worked goal from Meaghan Rock, the Dubs were facing into a 1-0 to 2-3 deficit at half-time. However, a Holly Finnegan major upon the resumption set-up an intriguing finale.

Even though Choilm subsequently re-established their dominance, a determined Our Lady’s gained some solace in the form of a late goal from Isabelle Costelloe.
