Second-half tries from Aaron Dundon and Matt D’Arcy were crucial at Castle Avenue last night, when Clontarf secured a narrow victory over a determined Terenure College in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League.
‘Nure made a bright start to proceedings with a sixth minute converted try by full-back James O’Donoghue.
But even though ‘Tarf trailed 7-3 at the break, Leinster hooker Aaron Dundon was on hand to touch down for Andy Wood’s side nine minutes after the restart.
In addition to a second Joey Carbery penalty, an outstanding Matt D’Arcy five-pointer created further daylight between the teams, and although a try by lock Mike Murphy 11 minutes from time offered Terenure a new lease of life, Clontarf held out to move level on points with UCD at the summit of the table.
