Leinster Schools’ Junior Cup First Round: Newbridge College V Gorey Community School – The Irish Independent – February 3 2016

Higgins on the double for Newbridge

Newbridge Col 25 Gorey CS 15

Second-half tries from Robert Scully and David Higgins proved crucial for Newbridge College as they overcame Gorey CS at Kilbogget Park.

Excellent Gorey No 8 Jack Ryan broke the deadlock on eight minutes with a powerful drive over the line.

Newbridge responded with tries from Bill Kavanagh and the pacey Higgins, but Gorey hit back on the half-hour mark via flanker Nacho Farina to leave the teams level at the break.

Newbridge were the better team after the break and Scully and Higgins touched down to put them firmly in control before Ryan claimed a late consolation try for battling Gorey deep into stoppage time.
