Leinster Media Briefing Ahead Of Ulster Game: John Fogarty & Luke Fitzgerald On Robbie Henshaw – The Irish Daily Mirror – November 24 2015

HUNT FOR HENSHAW STEPS UP

BY DAIRE WALSH

ROBBIE HENSHAW revealed yesterday he is exploring all options available to him when his Connacht contract expires at the end of the season.

Leinster still seems to be the most likely destination and Blues’ scrum coach John Fogarty agrees a big name signing like the centre would be a boost.

He said: “Robbie is one of those guys who is a very exciting player at the moment. Anyone would be happy to have him, we would be happy to have him.”

In the past, world stars Rocky Elsom and Brad Thorn have made significant impacts for Leinster – winning Heineken Cup medals in 2009 and 2012 respectively.

Henshaw’s presence in the Leinster squad would certainly intensify competition in the back line but when asked about the potential signing of the Athlone man, Luke Fitzgerald was eager to highlight his attributes.

He added: “Physically he has great attributes. He’s a big guy, tough, up for the fight. He really toughed it out against Argentina which is a good sign of a player.

“Footwork-wise, he’s very good for a big man. He’s a very good defender, very willing, gets himself in good positions. I can see lots of reasons why any club would like to have Robbie in their ranks.”
