Leinster A delivered a strong statement of intent at Donnybrook on Friday night, when they registered eight tries in a commanding 43-point victory over Moseley RFC in Pool 1 of the British & Irish Cup.
The hosts included Rugby World Cup squad member Tadhg Furlong in their starting line-up, and with just 17 minutes gone in the action, they had secured the all-important bonus point.
Peter Dooley, Dan Leavy, Collie O’Shea and Adam Byrne all crossed the whitewash for Leinster, and even though Moseley responded with a try from flanker Joe Bercis, nine points from the boot of out-half Ross Byrne helped Leinster towards a 29-7 interval lead.
The Blues continued to dominate after the restart, and tries by Leavy, scrum-half Charlie Rock and the dynamic O’Shea increased their cushion to 43 points (50-7) with 15 minutes left in the contest.
Greg King did grab a consolation try for Moseley, but Leinster A had the final say with a magnificent 79th minute touchdown from replacement Mick McGrath.
