It’s no hide for Douglas

BRAY WANDERERS are a point closer to top-flight safety.
This is thanks to a hard-earned draw at home to second-placed Cork City on Saturday.
Hugh Douglas produced an outstanding defensive intervention to deny Cork’s Karl Sheppard during a somewhat frantic finale.
But Seagulls supremo Mick Cooke felt that they deserved their positive result.
Cooke said: “Yeah, Hugh Douglas did tremendously well to block the ball on the line.
“But If that’s the only issue, then I’m very pleased.
“I don’t think our keeper Peter Cherrie had any really big saves to make.
“But that’s credit to the whole team. And it’s not just about the back four. It’s about all the ten who play in front of Peter. We played well as a unit.”
This point could be priceless for the Seagulls.
They lie in sixth, with the gap to bottom side Limerick eight points.
Cork city boss John Caulfield was disappointed with the bore draw.
But he was also quick to hail Bray’s application.
Caulfield said: “It was disappointing, but I keep saying, Bray are where they are for a reason. Year in, year out they survive. We cancelled each other out.
“They are a really great bunch of guys.”
