SEAN O Cinnseallaigh was in fine form at Ratheniska on Friday morning, but Colaiste Eoin were ultimately on the receiving end of a five-point defeat to St Brendan’s, Birr in the Leinster Schools Juvenile Hurling ‘B’ semi-final.
The dynamic O Cinnseallaigh contributed a hat-trick of goals in the gaelscoil’s Dublin Juvenile ‘A’ triumph over Colaiste Eanna last month, and even though they were facing into an early six-point deficit against their Offaly counterparts, his impressive three-pointer meant that Brendan’s only held a slight advantage (1-4 to 1-3) at the midway point in the contest.
TARGET
Tom O hEachthigheirn and Padraig Puirseil had also been on target for the Booterstown outfit, and excellent performances in defence by Colm Mac Giolla Phadraig and Cian Mac Daibheid kept them within touching distance when the action resumed.
Indeed, a second goal by the outstanding O Cinnseallaigh levelled matters moving into the final-quarter, but thanks to a strong purple patch, Brendan’s ultimately progressed to the provincial decider.
