Leinster Rugby Summer Camps Launch: Fergus McFadden – The Irish Daily Mirror – April 9 2015

FERGUS IN A DRAG RACE

BY DAIRE WALSH

LEINSTER winger Fergus McFadden is facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday’s clash with Newport Dragons.

He is working through the return to play protocols following a head injury he sustained in a collision with Bath’s Kyle Eastmond in the Aviva Stadium last Saturday.

The Champions Cup semi-final against Toulon seems like a more realistic target for McFadden, although he hasn’t completely ruled himself out for Sunday.

“I’ve a few boxes to tick if I’m going to come into consideration for this weekend. We’ll see how the week pans out for me,” he said yesterday.

McFadden confirmed he knocked out by the hit, but dismissed any suggestion of intent on Eastmond’s part.

“I was out cold. He caught me flush on the jaw with his shoulder. Kyle Eastmond is quite small. Technically it was a high hit, but I was ducking into him as well. There was no malice in it.”
