Leinster Schools Senior Hurling ‘C1’ Final: Terenure College V Carlow CBS – The Evening Herald – March 26 2015

GAELIC GAMES: LEINSTER SH C1 FINAL

Nure’s firepower nails it

A SUPERB first-half performance paid dividends for Terenure College in Newbridge last Thursday afternoon, when they were crowned Leinster Post-Primary Schools Senior Hurling ‘C1’ champions following an entertaining clash with Carlow CBS.

Courtesy of a well-taken goal from Dublin minor Mark Maguire, the south Dubliners developed a crucial early platform. Faughs star Ciaran Flanagan twice found the back of Gerard Kieran’s net in the opening period, and with Mark McGee also adding a three-pointer, they held a 4-8 to 1-8 interval advantage.

This looked like being an insurmountable cushion, but credit must go to their Barrowside counterparts, who forced their way back into the contention after the break.

Carlow Town’s Rory Donoghue finished with an impressive tally of 2-11, and following CBS’ third goal of the contest ten minutes from time, their deficit had been reduced to three points.

MAINTAINED

Terenure maintained their composure, though, and with Maguire, Daire Kerr and Gareth Crowley in fine scoring form, they claimed provincial honours with four points (4-15 to 3-14) to spare.
