DUBLIN SCHOOLS SFC ‘A’ FINAL
A STUNNING second-half performance paid dividends for St Aidan’s CBS in the Dublin Schools SFC ‘A’ decider at Parnell’s GAA yesterday.
Maynooth Post-Primary were aiming to secure a third consecutive title in this competition, but the lethal attacking duo of Paddy Small and Cian Gerrard inspired the Collins Avenue school towards a comprehensive triumph.
An 11th-minute goal by Maynooth’s Johnny Flattery has sparked the game into life, before Small was on hand to palm home a long-delivery just two minutes later.
Gerrard’s opening point of the tie gave the Dubliners a 1-5 to 1-4 lead at the break. And Gerrard picked up where he left off with an excellent 1-3 salvo increasing their lead to nine points.
A second Flattery goal 12 minutes from time did offer some hope, but with Small adding 0-4 to his already outstanding personal haul, Aidan’s emerged with a commanding success.
