Winters casts spell on South
DUBLIN NORTH 1-19 DUBLIN SOUTH 3-11
Monday January 16 2012
Paul Winters, Ciaran Kilkenny and Cormac Costello were to the fore in Parnell Park yesterday as Dublin North advanced.
Dublin South started brightly through James Roche and Naoise Greene, but North burst into life when Costello flicked Kilkenny’s ball to the net for the first goal on 12 minutes. South kept in touch with only four between the sides at half-time — 1-10 to 0-9 — but Dublin North increased that gap to eight in the second half.
South bagged a goal from Greene on 41 minutes, but further scores put North seven up with 10 minutes left. They did have a late scare though when a 57th-minute penalty miss by Kilkenny came in between another Greene goal, and an injury-time penalty from Roche.
