Ulster Bank League Division 1A: St Mary’s College V Cork Constitution – The Sunday Independent – October 5 2014

Lyons on song with sweet 16 to tee up Cork Con victory

Templeville Road St Mary’s College 15 (Richard Sweeney, D Fanagan try each, G Dunne pen, con) Cork Constitution 26 (M Keyes, R Jermyn try each, D Lyons 4 pens, 2 cons)

OUT-HALF Darragh Lyons was in fine form at Templeville Road yesterday, as his tally of 16 points helped Cork Constitution to record an impressive away victory.

The Con skipper provided great leadership for the Leeside visitors, and he added a brace of conversions to Michael Keyes and Robert Jermyn five-pointers to give them an early 14-3 advantage.

However, Richard Sweeney’s converted score offered Mary’s a lifeline just before the interval. This helped to reduce their deficit to seven (17-10), but although Dave Fanagan also crossed over in the second period, Con had effectively sealed their triumph.
