South Leinster Post-Primary Schools Senior Football ‘A’ League Final: Colaiste Eoin V Patrician Newbridge – The Irish Independent – May 1 2014

Colaiste Eoin show class to seal double

Colaiste Eoin 1-16 Patrician Newbridge 1-8 (South Leinster PP SF ‘A’ League Final)

Colaiste Eoin were crowned South Leinster Senior Football ‘A’ league champions at the expense of Patrician Secondary School, Newbridge at Thomas Davis GAA grounds.

A pointed free by Patrician’s Ryan King had left the sides delicately poised with 12 minutes remaining, but a magnificent goal by substitute Diarmuid O Seasnain gave Eoin their second piece of silverware of 2014.

Despite playing against a strong breeze, the Leinster SF ‘A’ champions held an 0-8 to 0-5 advantage at the break. A coolly dispatched penalty from King levelled matters after the restart, and after an exchange of scores the sides looked inseparable.

However, O Seasnain’s tremendous 49th-minute finish, with further points from Colm O Ceallachain, Colm O Neill and Cuala’s O Seasnain eased them to a deserved victory.
