A brace of tries by full-back Rory Clarke proved crucial at Donnybrook, as Belvedere College dug deep against St Michael’s to book their place in the Leinster Schools’ Junior Cup final.
Clarke opened the scoring with a 25th-minute converted try, before a penalty by Michael’s fly-half Harry Byrne left four points (7-3) between the teams at the interval. Another Byrne penalty cancelled out a similar effort by Dylan Corrigan-Forbes, but the game swung Belvo’s way as Clarke touched down 11 minutes from time. David Hawkshaw’s breakaway try increased the lead for Belvedere, and despite conceding a late Chris Carey consolation try, Belvedere will face old rivals Blackrock College on March 23.
