A HAUL of 0-8 by corner-forward Sean McGrath proved crucial for DIT as they held off a strong challenge from NUIG.
Points from McGrath and Kieran Bergin helped DIT lead 0-6 to 0-3 by the 22nd minute. Dean Higgins and Ger O’Donoghue kept NUIG in touch, but DIT were well worth their 0-8 to 0-5 lead at half-time.
Jack Hobbs hit the net for DIT five minutes after the restart but NUIG rallied and Niall O’Brien restored parity with just six minutes remaining.
But points from McGrath and McMorrow swung the pendulum in DIT’s direction.
