First-half scoring blitz helps ease Patrician into next round
Patrician SS………………………………… 4-13
St Benildus Coll…………………………… 1-08
A first-half scoring blitz proved essential for Patrician Secondary School yesterday afternoon, as the Newbridge college eased their way into the next round of the Leinster Schools SF A Championship.
The Kilmacud school opened the scoring courtesy of a point from half-back Callum Pearson inside the first minute, but Patricians soon settled into the contest thanks to eye-catching points by centre-forward Ben McCormack (two) and Cian Scanlon, as well as a clinically-struck Ciaran Troy goal 13 minutes in. Patricians built up an unassailable 4-6 to 0-2 interval cushion.
