Ulster Bank League Division 1B: Dublin University V Terenure College – The Sunday Independent – November 10 2013

Sydney Parade Dublin University 17 (N Adeolukan try, C Kearns 4 pens) Terenure College 26 (K O’Neill 2 tries, J O’Donoghue, K McCoy try each, M O’Neill 2 cons, A Wallace con)

A BRACE of tries by scrum-half Kevin O’Neill were off immense importance at Sydney Parade yesterday as Terenure College held on to top spot in Division 1B with a hard-earned 26-17 triumph over struggling Dublin University.

O’Neill’s converted try on 17 minutes broke the deadlock before two penalties from outside centre Conor Kearns left only one point separating the sides at the interval.

A third Kearns place-kick gave Trinity the lead just four minutes after the restart, but the visitors quickly restored their advantage with a second try from right-wing James O’Donoghue.

Outhalf Mark O’Neill was on hand to secure his second conversion of the game, but Kearns’ fourth penalty helped Trinity to force their way back into the reckoning. Further tries from Kyle McCoy and Kevin O’Neill helped to ease Terenure’s nerves in the dying moments. Despite crossing the line through Niyi Adeolukan six minutes from the end, Trinity are still searching for their first success of the campaign.
