DUBLIN SCHOOLS SHC FINAL
Dublin minors Sean Gray and Sean Ryan scored a combined tally of 0-10 as Scoil Aodhain produced a stunning second-half display to beat a fancied Colaiste Eoin side at O’Toole Park.
The Ballyroan school were chasing their third successive title at this grade and they were well on course when they built up a 0-5 to 0-2 lead by the 19th minute, thanks largely to a 0-4 haul by Keith Robinson from placed balls.
Aodhain burst into life with a terrific individual goal from Gavin King, but even though Gray and Ryan added scores, Eanna had a slender lead (0-8 to 1-4) at half-time.
The holders struggled after the restart, however, and Aodhain amassed six scores without reply from Cathal Doran (two), Gray, King, Robert M Fox and the increasingly influential Ryan.
After Daniel O’Connor was dismissed for a second yellow-card offence with nine minutes remaining, Eanna reduced the deficit to three.
Yet, in the closing stages, Ryan, Gray (two) and King all split the posts to seal a well-deserved triumph.
