FAI Ford Cup Second Round: Glenville V Limerick – The Irish Independent – June 3 2013

FAI FORD CUP SECOND ROUND

GLENVILLE                  0

LIMERICK                     3

RORY GAFFNEY scored twice as Limerick eased their way past Glenville in Whitehall.

Glenville netminder Carl Donnelly had to be alert to keep out efforts by Shane Tracy and Aaron Brown, before watching a 17th-minute attempt from Axel Bossekota drift over.

The breakthrough arrived five minutes later, when Gaffney produced a low finish to the Palmerstown men’s net after the ball had broken kindly to him.

Glenville’s challenge was undone 12 minutes after the restart when Tuam native Gaffney delicately chipped Donnelly after being released by a deft Bossekota touch from Stephen Bradley’s pass.

This meant that Limerick were in cruise control during the final half hour, and the outstanding Bradley got the goal his performance deserved when he curled a 25-yard free-kick to the net after 69 minutes.

The LSL underdogs should have claimed a consolation goal a couple of minutes later when Carl Corcoran hit a fresh air shot from a Christopher Doyle pull-back, but Limerick progressed to the next stage of the competition with minimum of fuss.
