British & Irish Cup Final Preview: Leinster A V Newcastle Falcons – The Irish Examiner – May 17 2013

Leinster A have Falcons in their sights

RUGBY: Leinster A will aim to ensure that the British & Irish Cup remains in Ireland when they travel to Kingston Park to face Newcastle Falcons in the competition’s grand finale this evening (7.30pm).

Munster A were crowned champions at the same stage last year, but Leinster pipped them in this year’s semi-final. Coach Girvan Dempsey has selected a youthful line-up for the game against the RFU Championship side, though it is backboned by the presence of Fionn Carr at full-back and Michael Bent in the front row.

A powerful scrum will be led by No 8 Jordi Murphy, who also captains the side. Newcastle’s Dean Richards has opted to name an entirely different team for the B & I decider, as he gives youth its fling.

Newcastle Falcons: J Sole; A Higgins, A Crockett, J Fitzpatrick, Z Kibirige; J Hodgson, R Lawson; J Hall, R Vickers, S Wilson, S Tomes, J Hudson (Captain), O Stedman, R Mayhew, C York. Reps: M Mayhew, J Hallam, S MacLeod, T Tu’ifua, C Pilgrim, W Luveniyali, M Tait.

LEINSTER ‘A’: F Carr; S Coghlan-Murray, B Macken, N Reid, A Boyle; C Marsh, L McGrath; J O’Connell, A Dundon, M Bent, T Beirne, M Flanagan, D Ryan, C Gilsenan, J Murphy (Captain). Reps: J Tracy, M Moore, L Auva’a, D Leavy, A Griggs, J Coghlan, A Byrne.
