Women’s Six Nations Championship Player Ratings: Scotland V Ireland – Independent.ie – April 30 2023

PLAYER RATINGS

Lauren Delany: Made a massive 165 meters off 15 carries and has re-established herself at full-back after a lengthy injury absence. 7.

Aoife Doyle: Worked hard throughout her 70 minutes on the pitch, but will probably feel she could have done more for Francesca McGhie’s final-quarter try. 5.

Aoife Dalton: While she showed well in the early stages, Dalton found herself under increased pressure as Scotland turned the screw in the second half. 6.

Vicky Irwin: Had some big carries in the opening stages of the game and produced a strong shift prior to her 51st minute withdrawal. 6.

Natasja Behan: Some big moments in defence and carried for 67 metres overall, but had limited attacking opportunities. 6.

Dannah O’Brien: Slotted over her two efforts from the kicking tee with aplomb and did her best to build momentum for Ireland in the Scotland half. 6.

Molly Scuffil-McCabe: Although she was efficient with her use of the ball at the breakdown, the Railway Union player was generally quiet in open play. 5.

Linda Djougang: Some typically strong carries forward in the early moments as Ireland had strong spells of possession. 6.

Neve Jones: Much improved throws off the line-out and was close to adding to the try she registered against Scotland at the same stage of last year’s tournament. 6.

Christy Haney: Key part of a strong opening half effort from Ireland, but began to tire as Scotland dictated affairs after the break. 6.

Nichola Fryday: The sole Irish try-scorer for 2023 coming into this game, the skipper doubled her seasonal tally in the second half and was a constant set-piece threat to the Scots. 7.

Sam Monaghan: Has forged a strong second-row partnership with Fryday in the past two seasons and while she found it tough at times against an impressive Scottish pack, she executed a couple of excellent charges down to put the hosts on the back-foot. 6.

Brittany Hogan: Retained her spot at openside flanker despite Dorothy Wall’s return to fitness and was solid with producing any major moments. 6.

Grace Moore: Worked well defensively before unfortunately being forced off with a HIA on 16 minutes. 5.

Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird: Has been one of the bright spots for Ireland in this year’s Six Nations and made 131 metres off 16 carries in another committed display. 7.

Replacements

Clara Nielson: Not on long enough to be rated.

Sadhbh McGrath: Introduced 11 minutes from the end when Ireland were struggling for front-foot momentum. 5.

Kathryn Buggy: Not on long enough to be rated.

Hannah O’Connor: Brought off the bench for a five successive game, but couldn’t halt the powerful Scottish charge. 5.

Dorothy Wall: Having missed out on last weekend’s defeat to England, Wall was called upon before the first-quarter had elapsed and grew into the game after a rusty start. 6.

Ailsa Hughes: Attempted to add some pace to the Irish side, but a confident Scotland ensured most of her work was done without the ball. 5.

Anna McGann: Although added to the fray when Ireland were still in the reckoning, McGann was given precious little ball to play with. 5.

Meabh Deely: A debutant on Ireland’s tour of Japan last summer, Deely was another Irish player to make her appearance when Scotland were in total control. 5.
