Women’s National League: Peamount United V Wexford Youths – The Sunday Independent – October 23 2022

Wexford earn point

Ahead of their tantalising final round showdown, Wexford Youths moved a point behind defending champions Shelbourne at the summit of the Women’s National League table with a 3-3 draw at Peamount United.

Looking for a response to Shels’ earlier 2-0 victory over Sligo Rovers, Wexford took the lead with a fourth-minute goal from Jess Lawler. However, Peamount levelled through Chloe Moloney and the hosts edged in front after Wexford defender Nicola Sinnott sliced a cross into her own net.

The Slaneysiders had looked set to fall short when an equaliser from inspirational captain Kylie Murphy was cancelled out by Peamount attacker Sadhbh Doyle, but an 89th-minute finish from Aine Walsh earned Stephen Quinn’s side a potentially crucial point.
