CORK City manager Danny Murphy was left frustrated on a number of levels in the aftermath of his side’s 3-1 defeat to Bohemians in the Women’s League at Dalymount Park on Saturday.

In the ascendancy thanks to an opening period finish from Aoibhin Donnelly, the Leesiders were subsequently rocked by the concession of three goals inside the final 15 minutes – a brace from Aoife Robinson and one courtesy of Niamh Prior.

From Murphy’s point of view, it was very much a Jekyll and Hyde performance by his troops on the night.

“The first half I thought we were excellent,” he said.

“I thought second half we just didn’t show up.

“We weren’t the same team the second half.

“You can’t play a game for half a game. It’s a 90-minute game and you’ve got to play for the full 90 minutes,” he said.

“We just didn’t do that today. It’s frustrating and it hurts. It really hurts,” Murphy said.

“It’s frustrating because you put all the right blocks in place for the first half and then the second half, you can’t affect the team.

“We can scream and shout and try and organise them from the sideline, but you can’t make people do things.

“I can’t play the game for them and I feel like I have to at the moment.

“I’ll watch back the game and I’ll look at things that maybe I could have done better as well.

“I’ll question me and the staff. Are there things we should be doing better?” he said.

Murphy also had question marks over the officiating in the Dublin venue.

When her side was still nursing a 1-0 lead, Laura Shine appeared to be upended in the box, but City were awarded a corner as opposed to a penalty.

“You’re going ‘how have none of you seen that?’ It was the most blatant trip in the box and he’s like ‘oh, you’ve got a corner’ and I’m like ‘I’d rather have a penalty’,” said Murphy.

“Then you’re 2-0 up and it might be a different game.

“I don’t think we got one decision in the whole game,” Murphy added.

“We’ve got to do better and I’m not trying to use that as an excuse, but for me I just expect a bit more professionalism.

“I don’t need the linesman laughing because four of them got it wrong. That’s not funny.

“We’re trying to improve as a team and try to do things, and there’s certain things for me that I’m just not happy with.

“I’ll speak to the proper people about it, because that was disappointing.”
