JEAIC Ó Leadús produced an outstanding display to guide Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain towards the Corn Padraig MGB crown at the expense of Scoil Santain on Tuesday.
Working in unison with the industrious Rian Mac Aonais around the middle-third, Ó Leadús showcased his vast array of skills for the Old Nangor Road outfit.
Credit must go to Santain for battling until the very end of the contest with Ross Cinseallach proving to be one of their best performers.
Chluain Dolcain had set out their stall in the opening minutes of the action as Ó Leadús, Tomás Ó Caoinleáin and Labhrás Ó H-Icí all raised white flags. The Santain defence had made life difficult for them, but Ó Leadús nonetheless registered his maiden goal of the tie on the stroke of 10 minutes.
He went on to add three more points to his personal haul in advance of rattling the net for a second time in the 16th-minute. Mac Aonais, Ó H-Icí and Cóilín Mac Eochaidh also contributed points, helping to ensure Chluain Dolcain were ahead 2-9 to 0-0 at the interval.
They were in no mood to drop their levels of intensity on the resumption, though Santain netminder Eoghan Ó Meachair did produce an outstanding save from Ó H-Icí after 27 minutes of the play. Still, the Clondalkin brigade were relentless in their pursuit of scores and proceeded to amass three goals in the space of just two minutes.
Either side of an Oisín Mac Giolla Bhearaigh three-pointer, the rampant Ó H-Icí found the target with customary aplomb. Mac Aonais and Ó Caoinleáin knocked over their second points of the game to further extend the Chluain Dolcain advantage , before Santain enjoyed a purple patch in the closing moments.
In the space of just 60 seconds, the aforementioned Cinseallach claimed two points to raise the spirits of their travelling supporters.
