Niall Loughlin and Ryan Jones struck second half goals in Abbotstown as Ulster University progressed to the quarter-finals with a 2-11 to 0-8 victory at the expense of MTU Cork.
Laughlin hit two first-half points for the Ulster side as they led 0-7 to 0-4. The Leesiders kept in touch with a spectacular two-point salvo from centre-forward David Buckley, but Loughlin would deliver the decisive score in the 44th minute when he shook the Cork net.
Jones ventured forward from defence to grab a 50th-minute goal that ultimately placed the outcome beyond doubt.
