Dublin Schools Senior Football ‘C’ Final: Lucan CBS V St Mac Dara’s CC – The Evening Herald – February 14 2013

Lucan’s Cleary ‘C’s off Dara’s

LUCAN CBS 1-10

ST MAC DARA’S CC 0-8

CAPTAIN Sean Cleary was the hero for Lucan CBS in Ballymun last Friday, as his goal six minutes from time propelled his side to victory over St Mac Dara’s in a tense Dublin Schools Senior Football ‘C’ final.

The Templeogue school’s star forward, Diarmuid McLoughlin, was on hand to open the scoring in the early moments. McLoughlin posed plenty of problems for the Lucan defence throughout, but their opponents were equally adept in attack, and excellent points from Sean McGrane, Cian Walshe, Shane Quinn, Daire Shanahan, Rob Madden (a superb sideline kick) and Ian Molloy gave Lucan a 0-6 to 0-3 interval advantage.

Mac Dara’s took advantage of their wind assistance on the restart to draw level after 35 minutes of play.

This set it up for a pulsating finish during which Lucan exhibited that little bit extra as Quinn’s third point was added to by an outstanding individual goal by centre-back Cleary on 54 minutes, and with McGrane also pointing a late free, the CBS faithful were sent into raptures.
