Treacy cracker the catalyst for DIT
DIT 1-15 UL 0-15
08 February 2013
A first-half David Treacy goal proved the deciding factor at Parnell’s as DIT withstood a strong challenge from UL to secure a vital victory in Group D.
The Dublin outfit had moved into an early three-point lead thanks to well-taken points from Treacy (two) and Michael Moloney, and despite UL reducing the deficit thanks to a brace from corner-forward Kieran Morris, a terrific individual goal from Dublin inter-county forward Treacy was a major boost for Joe Fortune’s charges.
UL kept in touch until the interval, with Morris scoring two, but DIT led 1-8 to 0-8 at half-time.
Adrian Ryan nabbed two scores to bring parity and the sides swapped points until the final quarter when DIT went for the kill with two Moloney points.
