Ryan seals Trinity win
Dublin University 28 UCD 15
Dublin University produced a stunning second-half display at College Park as they shocked UCD in the 64th Annual Colours Match.
Thanks to a try from lock Brian Cawley, UCD were 15-13 in front (15-13) on the hour mark, but with Conor Kearns in fine kicking form for the hosts, UCD were denied their fifth Colours triumph in succession.
After Barry Daly’s try put the visitors ahead before Trinity replied with of a converted try from Max McFarland, but Ross Byrne’s penalty gave UCD an 8-7 half-time lead.
Kearns landed two penalties but when Cawley’s touchdown was supplemented by a terrific Byrne conversion, the hosts were up against it.
However, a penalty try put them back in front before No 8 Tom Ryan sealed the result.
